A quick glance at the league standings this morning shocked me. Not the fact that the Jazz have the best record in the league, but that they are dominating. Even more than I had imagined. They have the leagues 13th best defense allowing 97.6 points per game, nothing to write home about. Until you realize that they have the leagues second best offense at 105.6 ppg and dominate the category of point differential (points scored vs. points allowed).

The Jazz so far this season have outscored their opponents Continue Reading This Entry »

When I write the letters “PMâ€, I can’t help but think back a few months. You see last June shortly after the Jazz drafted Paul Milsap with the 47th pick, I started to text message my friends a simple message which stated, “Paul Milsap”. As I would expect the majority of my friends who know me best gave me their usual response stating, “Jimmy you are too emotional, you get way to excited, lets wait and see.”
There was one friend however that responded quite differently. He simply would text me back, “Paul Milsap”. I instantly felt gratification and support, knowing that the Jazz (as Larry H. Miller now states) had made the steal of the draft. They had taken a chance on an undersized big man that led the nation in rebounding two years running, and I could not have been more happy. I looked at it like this. The Jazz just got a rookie that could help beef up their front line and give them much needed athleticism and energy. How could that not be a positive?
I don’t want to get ahead of my self but Last night was a vindication to my mid summers thoughts. The Jazz did indeed draft an exuberant, and athletic play-maker that has made an immediate impact. In my opinion I believe that the main contribution that Paul Milsap has made thus far is that he has given the Jazz a much need boost of energy that is infectious to all of those he plays with. He has made it fun for me to watch the Jazz, and has given me excitement for what lies ahead. I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself because I know that we are only 8 games into this young season, and I have decided to reserve judgement on the Jazz until at least 20 games. However, I can no longer hide my enthusiasm about Paul Milsap. Although it is early I am sure of the fact that Paul Milsap is a great surprise and a wonderful addition. So much so that the text messages have now evolved from “Paul Milsap”, to simply his initials “PM”. Who knows maybe he is just becoming a house hold name.
